Q:What degree programs are available through Bellevue University?
A:Below are the degrees offered through Bellevue University incorporating online courses (serviced by DEU)
as options in the degree plan. These courses are titled 'BU/ DEU Select Courses'.A DEU Enrollment
Specialist is available to answer any questions you may have at866-487-4800.

MOS 2003 is an optional course for the following degrees:

Q:How do I know which courses are right for me?
A:First, review the degree plans available from Bellevue University and select one that interests you.
(See the list above). Each degree plan states the optional online courses under the section titled
'BU/DEU Select Courses'.If you are not sure of which degree plan is best for you, contact a DEU
Enrollment Specialist at 1-866-487-4800.

College Credits

Q:Will Bellevue University accept college credits from other institutions?
A:Bellevue University evaluates each transcript individually.The Academic Dean and Registrar reserve
the right to accept or reject credit from other institutions.

To begin a credit transfer from another school, you need to request an official transcript from that
institution(s) be sent directly to the Registrars Office at Bellevue University (address listed below).
Copies of transcripts are acceptable only for preliminary evaluation. Official transcripts are required
for formal transfer of credits.

Q:Can my military experience be evaluated by Bellevue University for college credits?
A: To request anofficial evaluation of your military experienceand training for college credit, please
request an officialtranscript from the organizations listed below. Official transcripts areall that is
needed to complete your military evaluation. (Please do not send in any medal certificates, letters
ofappreciation, or any other awards & certificates.)

Note: If you served in the military prior to the year 1981 then you may submit a copy of your
DD214, 2-1, 2A, orDD295 for an evaluation.

Please make sure the following information is on anything you send in to be evaluated:
1. Social Security Number
2. Rank
3. Current Military Installation

Q: How many credits are needed to establish residency requirements with Bellevue University?
A:At least 30 credit hours are required for residency at Bellevue University.

Enrollment

Q:Why are courses started on the first or fifteenth of each month?
A:Term dates (start and end dates) are established by Bellevue University.



Q:Why is it necessary to wait 30 days (domestic) or 45 days (international) to begin my course?
A:This grace period provides Bellevue University and DEU time to process paperwork related to your
course and provides you an option to withdraw without penalty, if done prior to your start date.
A DEU Enrollment Specialist will advise you of your start and end dates.



Q: Why am I assigned a DEU e-mail address when I already have one of my own?
A:When you enroll for a Bellevue University/DEU Select Online course, DEU assigns a secure e-mail
address to be used while studying our courses. You should regularly check your personal and DEU
e-mail accounts for important messages from Bellevue University and DEU throughout your studies.
Please keep in mind that e-mail is sometimes the only communication we have with you, especially
if you are overseas

To access your DEU e-mail account, please follow these steps:
1. Open your web browser to www.deuniv.com
2. Click on 'DEU Student E-Mail' located on the left navigation menu
3. Enter your username and password, which is printed on your Resource CDs label

It is recommended that you change your password for the DEU e-mail account, once you login the first time.
Here is how to change your password:
1. Select 'Account Options' > 'Change Password'
2. Type in your old password
3. Create a new password
4. Click 'confirm'

To send an e-mail:
1. Click the 'Compose' link
2. Click the 'Inbox' link to view your e-mail log
3. To view an individual e-mail, click on the title of the specific e-mail

Q: Should I check my computer settings prior to beginning my courses?
A:Absolutely! Before you begin your course you must follow the directions below to make sure your
computer settings are compatible with the courseware.

Browser Capabilities Test
The Browser Capabilities Test will ensure that your computer and web browser are configured to enable you
to access your course online. Copy and paste the link below into your web browser and follow the directions:

Follow the directions below, if any browser test results are unsupported:

Pop-Up Blocker
If you use Internet Explorer, follow the steps below to resolve any issues:

Set Security: Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab > highlight Trusted Sites > click Sites >
1. Add www.skillport.com
2. Remove check mark from Require Server Verification
3. Click OK
4. With Trusted Sites still highlighted, click Default Level; ensure the level is set to Low

Install the JRE application from your 'Resource CD' and to ensure all JRE options are enabled,
follow these steps:
1. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Scroll down until you see JRE
2. Ensure all three options are checked and click APPLY.

Disclaimer: This software upgrade is required for SkillPort Java content to function normally within your
browser.Since it was created by a third party vendor, Bellevue University and DEU assume no responsibility
for complications that may arise as a result of the upgrade.

Clear Your Cache
Go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files > check 'Delete All Offline Content' > click OK

Clear Your Cookies
Go to Tools > Internet Options > Settings > View Files > CTRL + A >hit the 'Delete' key.
For Internet Explorer 6.0 users, simply click Delete Cookies on General tab.
Close ALL windows of your browser, then re-open the browser and attempt to launch your courses.
Click 'GRANT' or 'YES' to pop-up messages from SkillSoft.

If the Problem persists:Call SkillSoft Technical Support at 1-866-754-5435.

FREE Study Tool

Q: When will I receive my study tool?
A: You should receive your FREE study tool within 7 to 10 business days after your start date.



Q: Why do I receive my study tool AFTER my start date?
A: Since you may cancel your enrollment right up until your start date (grace period), it is necessary
that your FREE study tool be ordered on your start date. It is not necessary to have your study tool
to begin your coursework.



Q: Is it possible to change the specs of a study tool?
A: No.



Q: Can I upgrade my FREE study tool to a laptop?
A: If the course you choose is qualified for an upgrade, you must complete the Laptop Upgrade Form during
the Enrollment Process. It is your responsibility to pay any additional fees as Tuition Assistance does
not cover these types of optional expenses.


If you have a question concerning the upgrade qualification, contact a DEU Enrollment
Specialist at 1-866-487-4800.

Disclaimer: The FREE study tools or laptops are not paid by Tuition Assistance. Not all courses
come with FREE study tools and not all study tools are the same for all courses.



Q: Will my course cost less if I do not accept a FREE study tool?
A: If the course you choose qualifies for a study tool, it is considered a gift from DEU to support your
study efforts. This gift is not part of your tuition; therefore the course costs remains the same.You
may request to have the study tool sent to a relative or friend, however, Bellevue University and DEU
will not accept any responsibility once the study tool is delivered to a third party.



Q: Can I send my study tool to an address other than my own?
A: Yes, you may request your study tool be sent to another domestic or international (APO only) address.
Please tell a DEU Enrollment Specialist when you enroll for the course to ship it to an alternate address.
To prevent lost or delayed packages, please ensure you provide us with the correct name, shipping
address, phone number and be sure the third party is aware of the pending arrival of the item for signature.
All shipments require a signature at delivery. When the package is released by signature, the study tool
is no longer the responsibility of Bellevue University or DEU.



Q: If I sign up for another course with Bellevue University and DEU, can I receive additional study tools?
A: Yes.

Studying

Q: Who can I contact with questions regarding my course?
A: Once you are enrolled in our online courses, you are assigned a DEU Student Services Rep, who
provides ongoing support throughout your course. Contact information for your Student Services Rep
is provided in the Student Packet (mailed after enrollment), in subsequent e-mails sent through
the duration of your course. You can also reach the Student Services department at 1-866-487-4800,
Monday - Friday, from 8 - 5, Eastern Time.


Q: What is a Resource CD?
A: A Resource CD is part of your Student Packet, sent to you after enrollment. This CD has necessary
software tools and information to needed to prepare you and your computer to begin your coursework.
It is very important that to run the CD FIRST. See 'Should I check my computer settings prior to
beginning my courses?' above.



Q: Am I required to do all coursework online?
A: No, DEU provides each military student with courseware in CD format. This gives you the option to study
offline and upload progress at a later date. It is recommended, however, if you do study offline, to upload
(or synchronize) your progress in SkillPort on a regular basis.



Q: Can I complete my coursework if I do not have access to the Internet?
A: Yes, DEU makes it possible for all students to study and complete coursework online OR offline through
the courseware CDs, which accompany your course. You will be responsible to send your completed
progress to DEU to receive a grade and credit from Bellevue University. Please see the above question
for more information.



Q: How do I study offline?
A: To begin your coursework OFFLINE, please follow these steps below:
1. Load the resource CD into your computer and click on the JVM File and Load Program.
Do Not Restart your computer!
2. Now load your courseware disk into your computer and click on the Setup Program File
3. Click yes to all questions, then select install Help Files and All Players
4. Install Course Manager.
After successful installation, a SkillSoft Course Manager icon will appear on your desktop
5. Exit the program and restart your computer
6. Double-click the SkillSoft Course Manager icon on your desktop
7. Enter your username and password, provided on your Resource CD label
8. Click on yes if it asks to establish you as a new student
9. Proceed to the Configure tab then continue to the LMS Post URL section to enter the following:
lms65.skillport.com/_spcesmilitary_od_cgi/aiccisapi.dll
10. In the Server Root section, enter the following:
http://content1.skillsoft.com/scm/35SCP5scmdl/web
11. Hit the Save button.
12. Congratulations! You are now able to study and complete your courses offline

To begin your coursework ONLINE, please follow these steps below:
1. Go to the DEU website: www.deuniv.com
2. Click on 'SkillPort Login'
3. Enter your username and password, provided on your Resource CD label
(note: username and password are case-sensitive)
4. Go to 'My Plan' which contains your courses
5. Complete the courses in the order listed
6. Test Prep and Mentoring Lessons are NOT required for course completion, but can be helpful.
7. 'My Report' gives you a current course progress status
8. When all coursework is completed, contact your Student Services Rep to start the grading process.



Q: How do I submit my coursework for grading if I studied offline?
A:You have two options to upload your progress for grading.The options are listed below:


Email Offline Progress from CDs
1. While the coursework program is running, click on 'Progress'
2. Select 'Export'
3. Save to desktop if you have Internet access from your computer or save to a USB drive or CD
4. Attach the zipped file to an e-mail and send to your Student Services Rep.

Please call to verify that your DEU Student Services Rep received the e-mail successfully.


Upload Offline Progress from Hard Drive to SkillPort
1. Log on to www.deuniv.com
2. Select 'SkillPort Login' located on the left navigation menu
3. Type in your Username and password
4. Login to SkillPort (SkillSoft Course Manager program will run during this entire process)
You have created a file on your hard drive tobe used in step 10
5. Select 'My Report.' Now, minimize this screen
6. Select the 'Start' button
7. Select 'My Computer'
8. Select 'Local Disk (C:)'
9. Select 'Program Files' > SkillPort> client folder> results
10. You should see at least two folders
1) This folder was created during step 5 of this process (example: JSailor@deuniv.com)
2) Other folders were created while studying your courses offline (example: JSailor58)
11. Open the folders titled with your first and last name followed by a number
You should see a few files titled similar to the following: 123900_eng.rte
12. Select Edit > Select All, then Copy and close the file
13. Open the folder stating your DEU e-mail address and Paste
14. Repeat steps 12 through 14 as required for all folders
15. Maximize SkillPort page and select Back button on your browser
Your progress should now be uploading to SkillPort
Note: SkillSoft Course Manager Program will run during this entire process and will indicate files being loaded
DO NOT CLOSE THIS PROGRAM WHILE UPLOADING PROGRESS; IT WILL CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY WHEN COMPLETED.)
16. Select 'My Report' to display all the progress uploaded

Q: What do I do when I complete my course?
A: You will need to contact your DEU Student Services Rep. by e-mail or telephone immediately upon
completion your coursework.Your progress will be evaluated and sent to Bellevue University for official
grading.No grades are issued prior to your end date.



Q: If I complete my course before my end date, what should I do?
A: You will need to contact your DEU Student Services Rep. by e-mail or telephone immediately upon
completion your coursework.Your progress will be evaluated and sent to Bellevue University for official
grading.No grades are issued prior to your end date.



Q: What happens if I do not complete my course?
A: 1. You may be required to pay back Tuition Assistance used to fund your course to the military.
Tuition Assistance may garnish fees from your wages.
2. You may not receive the college credits associated with your course
3. You may receive an F from Bellevue University for your course, which will be reflected on your transcript



Q: How can I tell when I have completed my course?
A: Refer to the Study Guide in your Student Packet, or contact your DEU
Student Services Rep at 1-866-487-4800.



Q: What happens if I am deployed?
A: If you are deployed, please contact your DEU Student Services Rep immediately. A copy of your
deployment orders may be required for an extension request beyond 90 days. The maximum amount
of extension time is one year from your original end date. (See "Extensions.")



Q: Do I have to take the Certification Tests to complete my course?
A: No. The online courses from Bellevue University and DEU are a part of a degree plan.The coursework
will prepare you for certification (if applicable), should you wish to do so.



Q: Am I required to do the Mentoring or Test Prep sections?
A: No, these sections are not required for course completion, but can be helpful.

Grading / Transcript

Q: How are courses graded?
A: Courses are graded by two criteria:
40% Completion of the reading material for each course
60%Test scores



Q: When are my courses graded?
A: Courses are graded after your end date. If you finish early, please contact your DEU
Student Services Rep; however, your coursework will not be graded until your end date.



Q: After I complete my coursework, how long does it take for grades to be issued?
A: Grades are only issued after your end date, even if you complete the coursework earlier.
Grades are posted on the approximately 2 to 3 weeks after your end date.



Q: How do I request a transcript be sent to another school?
A: You can use the Transcript Request Form if you need to request a transcript be sent to another
institution. Updated transcripts are not automatically mailed to you from Bellevue. You can view
your student information on the B.R.U.I.N. website.

Extensions

Q: How do I request for an extension for my course?
A: If you don't think you will be able to complete your course in the time allowed, you can request an extension.


To request an extension for the first time:
1. Contact your DEU Student Services Rep for an Extension Request Form
2. Upon completion of the Extension Request Form, you will be granted a 90 day

extension from Bellevue University
3. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail from your DEU Student Services Rep with your new End Date


To request additional extensions:
1. Contact your DEU Student Services Rep immediately
2. You may need to provide a copy of your orders or a letter from a commanding officer, regarding the

reason for the course extension
3. You will receive a confirmation via e-mail from your DEU Student Services Rep with your new

End Date, if approved

** NOTE: A second or third extension request may be granted by Bellevue University only after review. A copy of your orders may be required. There is no guarantee you will receive any additional extensions beyond your first **

Q: Who do I contact if I experience problems with my course or computer?
A: If you are experiencing problems with your coursework or with SkillPort, contact your DEU Student
Services Rep. at 1-866-487-4800. If you experience problems after hours, contact SkillSoft technical
support at 1-866-754-5435.

There are a number of possible reasons why your program may not be functioning properly.Follow these recommended steps below. If your problem still exists after performing these actions, call SkillSoft Technical Support at 1-866-754-5435.

Do you experience one of the problems below?

I cant get the course to load or play.
When I click Play Course, a white page pops up and nothing happens.
When I click Play Course, a message box appears instructing me to wait while desktop initializes,
but the box doesnt go away.

If any of these scenarios happen, follow the instructions below:
